  • Dick looked into the mirror and wondered what was wrong with Bruce and himself. In fact, that's the exact question Roy once asked when they were out on an Outsiders mission. Roy also said Dick had “the mother of all father complexes runs in your family” and declared that the more he knew about Batman and Robin, the less he wanted to know about Batman and Robin. Dick hated to admit it, but Roy might have some points in it. In hindsight, some other friends of him showed similar concerns on various occasions. All their questions asked could be summrised into one:

"How did a man like Bruce Wayne raise a man like you?".

"You have no idea.” had always been Dick’s answer.

  • Dick always wonders how will the never-ending story of Batman and Robin end. He sometimes thinks that there might be some alternative universes for this whole Batman and Robin thingy. Maybe in one universe, Dick would become the Batman (not that he did not in this universe). Maybe in another, he would stab Bruce to death for all those years of ignorance and betrayal, shouting something about love or something equally dramatic. Or maybe he and Bruce would retire peacefully, raising dogs together somewhere in Eastern Europe. The ending of the story is always unsure, but the beginning of the story is always the same. It begins with Bruce Wayne taking an 8-year-old boy who just lost his parents into his family. And a man like Bruce Wayne will always raise a man like Dick Grayson, who will always, always fall for Bruce.
